Send me your lightning cables.

In this project, anti-monopoly meets e-waste reduction meets the loom.

Over the next few years, as your family stops needing lightning cables, instead of throwing them away, send them to me! Just email interwoven@codecolloquy.com with “lightning cable” in the subject, and I’ll provide shipping instructions.

As cables come in, I will weave them into a compilation of abstract wall hangings.

Background.

Starting December 28th, 2024, all new mobile phones in the EU must use USB-C charging cables under Directive (EU) 2022/2380. Apple has begun phasing out Lightning cables globally. This change means families and friends in the same household, workplace, or on a fun vacation can share chargers regardless of phone manufacturer—creating ease for consumers, enabling easier market entry for new mobile devices, and reducing e-waste.
